Behailu Kids Give Back!

Jonathan Thull, Academy staff member, gave us the following update on some work he has been doing with our students:

Academy students have been volunteering at the Charlotte Men’s Shelter over the course of this semester. The students have taken part in a game/art day. Students and shelter guest joined together to make an inspirational painting where participants placed there painted hand prints on the canvas with a quote or word of inspiration. The student then decided where in the cafeteria that painting would go. Along with this larger painting several smaller painting were also created. The student also engaged in games and discussions with the guest. Some students played an intense game of monopoly while others played chess or just talked with guest. Academy students have also been helping to prepare food and feed the guest at the shelter. Students prepared bread, meatloaf, vegetables, mashed potatoes and desserts. The students then helped distribute the dinners to all the guest and then helped clean up.
